Akvile Ruockute

Akvile Ruockute is a jazz violinist based in The Netherlands.

Started her Jazz studies under Vytautas Mikeliunas and Vladimir Chekasin and while looking for her own sound Akvile was strongly influenced by Didier Lockwood and early Jean Luc Ponty. Growing interest in Jazz language compelled her to study saxophone and trumpet players such as Jackie Mclean, Charlie Parker and Cannonball Adderley.

Since 2012 Akvile has been studying at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague under John Ruocco, Jarmo Hoogendijk and Toon Roos, while collaborating with a Catchpenny Ensemble, composers/artists’ platform, focusing on exchanging and practicing musical and artistic ideas and dwelling deeper into a more experimental side of music, as well as participating in other projects and performing with her band
